History of Traditional Kanjivaram Sarees

A kanjivaram saree is considered as the richest traditional saree of India. The sari is made with silk fabric which is developed in the kanchipuram region of Tamil Nadu, India. That is the reason the traditional name of this saris is Kanchipuram sarees. It is known as the southern equivalent of Benarasi sarees. Sarees from Kanchipuram have intense zari work on it. The zari used in the designing process comes from the state of Gujrat. According to Hindu mythology, silk is considered as the preferred fabric of Lord Vishnu.
