If the young generation is “oh- so-crazy”  about sarees then Bollywood claims the lion’s share of credit for imparting the fervour among one and all. After injecting the venom of going zero figure much to the likes of Kareena Kapoor, Bolly babes are now doting over sarees to go super glamorous, oops non glamorous. That’s right, non glamorous roles, heavy script and a hit movie. So where does the ethnic wear fit in between? It fits right on the protagonist. Bollywood’s leading ladies like Vidya Balan and Bipasa Basu have recently flaunted their very best while clad in saree namely Vidya Balan in ” Ishqiya” and Bipasa Basu in ” Aakrosh”. Not to forget Priyanka Chopra essaying the role of a simple Maharastrian in highly acclaimed “Kaminey’ where she was paired opposite Shahid Kapoor.

After winning hearts all over in “Ishqiya”, Vidya Balan is all set to rock the screen in another de-glam role in the upcoming flick “No One Killed Jessica’. The recently released Asutosh Gowarikers ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan See” sees Deepika Padukone in her most challenging roles till date . And here too like all other she sports a saree to project the flavour and fervour of the yesteryears where India way under the hackles of slavery at the hands of British. It’s evident how sarees have found a new way to drape Bollybabes and earn their much craved piece of fame which is seemingly a delight ful relief from the frost biting scenes where the heroines were only draped in as simple chiffon while the hero wore a stylish jacket. Sarees and Bollywood share an unshakable relationship which according to many leading ladies of this tinsel town has miles to go.
